Martellus Bennett is upset that the NFL decided to fine him $5,787 for wearing all black Jordan Brand Cleats in the game. NFL issued the fine because Bennett’s cleats were all black and not white like the NFL request. Martellus Bennett had more to say about his fine and the NFL
“I’m just pissed off at the NFL…Those cleats are perfect for my feet. I feel like they are supposed to protect the players, and I have a certain shoe that feels the best on my foot. I’ve had foot problems over the last two years. And they fine me because they’re too black. They don’t make them in white. I’m not a Nike guy. So I’m kind of [upset] about that.”
The NFL has always been ridiculous about the color of players cleats. It sucks that players can’t wear whatever cleat they want but NFL has had this rule in place for years. Bennett isn’t off base saying NFL Nike sponsorship has an effect on it. NFL has shown in the past sponsorship is critically important to them.
The NFL fined Martellus Bennett for "too black" shoes. He says they're putting him at risk. http://t.co/BbkltMpvWT pic.twitter.com/IGiTiZneJN
