Tate Ramsden, a sophomore at Dartmouth College tragically drowned Saturday at a YMCA pool in Sarasota, Florida.
According to Officer Douglas Stidham, Ramsden, 21, “was attempting to complete a ‘100’, which is four laps in a pool without surfacing for air.”
Ramsden’s sister and cousin noticed he was no longer moving under the water. At this time lifeguards were alerted and pulled him out of the water, Stindham wrote.
The Nashville, Tennessee native had mass amounts of water and blood pouring out of his nose and mouth throughout the attempts to revive him.
An autopsy will be help to determine the cause of death.

Ramsden led his high school swim team to the Tennessee State Swimming Championship and won the State Championship in two events.
Ramsden was scheduled to graduate from the prestigious Ivy League college in 2017 with a degree in economics, and pursuing a career in finance post graduation.
