We are less than 100 days from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. And if you’re not aware, Brazil is in a state of political and financial unrest and crime is on the rise. Not exactly the environment you would like heading into a massive global sporting event.
The situation is so bad that Brazil soccer legend Rivlado, who helped his country hoist the World Cup in 2002, is urging fans not to attend the summer games. Following the murder of a 17 year old local girl, Rivaldo said:
Things are getting uglier in Brazil. I advise everyone with plans to visit Brazil for the Olympics in Rio – to stay home. You’ll be putting your life at risk here.
And, we haven’t discussed the infrastructure issues and the Zika virus. As we get closer to the games, I have a feeling we will be hearing more stories.
