LeBron James will be hosting his annual pre-training camp workouts in Los Angeles for his Cavalier teammates. According to Cleveland.com Bron has been hosting these pre-training camp workouts since he retuned to Cleveland in 2014. The team cites these pre camp sessions as integral in building cohesion and fluidity amongst the players. It’s hard to argue with the results, two Finals appearances and an NBA Championship. The sessions are clearly paying dividends.
All of Bron’s Cavs teammates are expected to attend, as most have ties or live (at least part of the season) in or around Los Angeles. The one teammate we are not sure on, is JR Smith. As you know Smith is a free agent and currently does not have a contract with the Cavs. Smith has stated his preference to return to the Cavs but will not be taking a discount. With the inflated salary cap, he shouldn’t have to take a discount. JR was an integral part of the Cavs title run earlier this summer. Cleveland is already into the luxury tax, paying JR isn’t going to impact them any worse. Besides, the revenues Cleveland is reaping because of LeBron and the championship offset whatever luxury tax penalties they pay out.
