No one in Miami saw this company, but it’s obvious Pat Riley felt he had to do something after losing Gordon Hayward to the Celtics.
Free agent Kelly Olynyk has agreed to a four-year, $50M-plus deal with the Miami Heat, agent Greg Lawrence tells ESPN.

Guess this means that Hassan Whiteside and Olynyk will finally have to start playing nice with each other. It isn’t so simple as the HEAT signing Olynyk, however. They also needed to figure out how to free up some cap space, since the mostly injured Josh McRoberts opted in to his deal. Looks like they may have found a willing buyer in Dallas.

Olynyk did help save the Celtics postseason against the Wizards in game 7, and he certainly stays on the court about 95% more than the hapless McRoberts. Either way, many are left feeling like maybe Riley’s desperation caused him to overpay Olynyk in this one.
