The Michael Jackson movie “This is It” debuts this weekend, but the title maybe more fitting for Titans QB Vince Young who has been named the Titans starting QB probably for the rest of the season.
I am not going to go through all the issues VY has had in the last couple of years because they have been well documented.
Here is the reality of the situation. The Titans are 0-6 and I have spoken to people who are close to the Titans organization that have told me that no one except the owner had any interest in people Vince back in the lineup.
What that means is that the staff has no confidence that he can lead the team. Which is a harsh reality on a team that is winless and was blown out 59-0 in its last game.
Luckily for VY the owner calls the shots and he gets his shot at redemption.
I hope he can turn it around because if he can’t I see him as a David Carr type just floating around the league in various backup roles until his career is over.
So “This is It” for VY.
I remember after he was drafted I made this exact quote:
“Out of all the quarterbacks drafted Vince Young has the greatest Boom or Bust factor. If he is good he is going to be legendary. If he is bad he is going to be really bad.”
He has had some good times, but he has had a lot of bad times.
This is his last chance to be “great”, but is that a realistic goal? Only time will tell.
