Sometimes when you are in a successful group, some of the “side members” mistakenly think they are as big as the “main star” or they get so attached to the “main star” they have no idea what to do when the real star goes solo (see: Destiny’s Child for example).
When Mo Williams was paired with Lebron James he was treated like a “star”, but once Lebron took his talents to South Beach reality set in and Mo Williams is now being seen as Mo Williams, a good not great player.
Mo has taken the news pretty hard. Lot of crying, whining, moaning and brokenhearted tweets about his love for Lebron on twitter.
I sort of feel sorry for Mo, but not really.
It appears that Lebron never took the time out to talk to Mo about why he left him at the alter, but Williams was able to corner Lebron in the airport. Here are the details:
Mo Williams’ flight into Cleveland on Sunday was four hours late. Turns out, it was perfect timing.
The travel delay allowed Williams to unexpectedly bump into LeBron James at Hopkins airport for a clear-the-air type of discussion between the two former teammates that Williams says was ”much needed.”
Williams and James were close during their time together with the Cavaliers, and Williams was one of the players stung the most by James’ departure to the Miami Heat this summer.
”Part of me is still sour . . . but I wish him the best,” Williams said Monday between holes at the Cavaliers’ Youth Fund Golf Classic at Westfield Country Club. ”He’s got enough people rooting against him, he doesn’t need one more.”
I would have loved to see Lebron’s face when Mo came running up to him with open arms ready for a long embrace.
At least Williams is honest about still being salty, I would probably be salty to about going from ashy to classy back to ashy again.
The fact that Mo is more concerned with people “rooting against” Lebron as oppose to “competing against” him is one of the main reasons it is going to be a long year in Cleveland.
