Ira Winderman, beat writer for the Heat from the Sun Sentinel tweets:
“Sun Sentinel has learned marijuana case against Udonis Haslem dropped by State Attorney office. His car no longer subject to forfeiture. Because of “no action” ruling by state, Haslem should not be subjected to any further action by NBA regarding potential suspension.”
Reason why he got off free? Ira follows up tweet with article.
Haslem’s attorney said, “They sent the container out for his prints, to see if Haslem’s prints were on the container, they’re not[…]”
And just like that, one less distraction for Miami Heat. Remember, he was charged with third-degree felony charge of possession of marijuana, as well as four counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The felony count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $5,000 fine and a two-year driver’s license suspension. Having that cloud looming over team was a major problem. NBA might have brought the hammer down on Udonis; fine, suspension, or worse. Considering he is one of those cog players, doing small things that teams need, Heat must be relieved charges were dropped. He is going to be vital in their title run, mark my words.
The problem is now resolved, no harm no foul. Now Udonis, don’t get in cars with friends who might have a weapon or drugs. Save yourself the headache. Hope you learned something.
