Allen Iverson didn’t miss his flight this time and arrived in Istanbul on Monday.
I find Iverson in Turkey more interesting than anything else that is going on in the NBA Season right now. If I would have thought about it I would have pitched this as a reality show for VH1.
Can you imagine how much fun it would be following Iverson around Turkey?
That is must see TV.
Here are the details of Iverson’s arrival:
Iverson, who agreed to a $4 million, two-year contract with Besiktas, is the Turkish league’s biggest signing. He has called his move to the Istanbul club “a chance to get back on track with my basketball career” after no NBA team was willing to offer him a contract this season.
Iverson is expected to make his debut with Besiktas on Nov. 13 when the team plays Oyak Renault at its home arena that seats about 4,500 fans. The club hasn’t won the Turkish league since 1975.
“They were great,” Iverson told NTV sports channel of the cheering Besiktas fans who welcomed him at the airport, adding that “the most important thing is to be accepted, to be wanted and to be appreciated.”
Iverson urged fans to come out and support the team. The player also said he would be “interacting” with the fans as much as possible.
“Before I leave, I’ll be speaking a lot of Turkish,” he said.
I wish him well, you never know maybe Turkey is the best place for him right now to clear his head a little bit or he will be thrown out of the country by January.
Either way it is a fascinating story.
He already seems to be a confused about his allegiances. When he got off the plane he was rocking a Phillies hat, but by the time he made it to the press conference he was rocking a Yankees hat.
Pretty much sums on the story of Allen Iverson career, you just don’t know who or what you are getting with him.
If it just me or does A.I. look like Tupac in Juice in these pictures. He doesn’t necessarily look happy, looks like he ready to go after Mike Tomlin errrrr Omar Epps, hopefully there will not be an international incident while he is in Turkey.
