I agree with Cameron that “gossip sells”, but I have no clue what that has to do with his jersey number and the fact that Jimmy Clausen doesn’t want to give up the #2.
Personally if I was Clausen I wouldn’t give up my number, it would be a sign of defeat. If I was a player I would never give up my number to a rookie regardless if I was on the practice squad or all-pro.
Cameron for his part doesn’t seem to care to much about the number.
“I really don’t care. It’s just a number to me,” Newton said, per NFL.com. “Gossip sells, and I understand that with people hearing I wore No. 2 in college, and Jimmy [Clausen] has it right now, [but] it’s not a big deal to me. I just want to get that out of the way and throw it out there. It’s not the number. It’s the person wearing it.”
It is a good attitude to have, Cameron is definitely Hollywood, but I think it can work to his advantage, he is so vain, I see it as a motivation to succeed.
That is what I am hoping anyway.
