We’ve already seen a number of NFL players consider second careers with their league’s lockout underway. With a work stoppage in the NBA growing closer, it looks like some of that league’s athletes are starting to look for ways to keep the paychecks rolling in. Of course, it should be no surprise that Ron Artest – who has always marched to the beat of his own drum machine – is among the first to talk about his potential new career if the negotiating sides can’t pull a deal together quickly.
If there is a lockout, however, Artest is working on a second career as a comedian. This summer, Artest will host the “Ron Artest Ultimate Comedy Tour,” which currently has four shows booked at the Improv in Hollywood July 8-9 and four more shows at Caroline’s on Broadway in New York July 15-16.
This could work out for Ron. I laughed just at the idea of him doing intentional comedy. So maybe he really does know funny.
