Desean Jackson had zero leverage.
If he held out passed August 9th he would lose a year toward free agency.
He doesn’t have enough money to have a protracted holdout into the season.
Basically he held out for nothing. My sources tell me that Jackson with his back against the wall and the Eagles promise to waive the fines he has already racked up will report to training camp on Monday.
The best thing for Jackson to do is play well. If he plays well he will get paid, if he doesn’t or gets hurt again the Eagles aren’t going to offer him what he wants.
Jackson can go about this two ways, he can accept the low ball offer the Eagles will give to him or he can roll the dice that he has an outstanding season driving up his price as he stares at free agency.
The latter is a gamble, but if he believes in his talents it is a gamble he should take. Just stop buying $8 bottle water and he should be fine.
