Soccer players often get a bad rap for the way they fake injuries and flop to get calls in ways that Vlade Divac would be offended. But when you see two guys go up for a ball in the air, its like they are trying to catch a rebound with their face. Collisions can get violent, and today’s Chelsea vs Norwich City featured one hell of a hit.
Didier Drogba, an international superstar from Ivory Coast who plays for Chelsea, went up to head a cross in the box only to meet the goalie instead. The results looked like something out of Australian Rules Football.

The hit in the air looked pretty violent, but it was the way Drogba landed, fully prone, face first into the ground that makes this clip especially cringe worthy. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution and looks to have suffered a concussion.
The amazing thing to me is that trained athletes at the top of their game should know that after that kind of hit, you shouldn’t try and move the victim of a head and neck trauma, which is exactly what the defender tried to do.
