Amazing Time Lapse Video of the Final Four Court Being Assembled

This year’s Men’s Final Four will be played in a the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, a stadium used primarily for football. Like most fans, I never put thought into the process of putting together the floor these guys are going to play on. As you can see from the regional games, they strip down the team specific markings on the tournament sites and put new graphics on the surface.

In the case of the Superdome, a whole new floor needs to be brought in and decorated. Greg Shaheen, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball championship, tweeted out the following video of the floor being assembled off site in preparation for the game on April 2nd.

It is a pretty amazing two minute video. Below it is the description from Connor Sports Flooring, the guys responsible for putting it together.

The finishing of the Final Four® court took nearly 5 weeks, but you can see it here in just 2 minutes. The floor will be traveling on a 7 city tour from March 16-23, 2012. Once the floor arrives in New Orleans it will take between 2-4 hours to install.
