To understand what I am about to tell you, first you need to watch the trailer to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World if you aren’t familiar with the story.
35 points, 10 rebounds & 6 Assists.
17 points 8-9 shooting in the 4th quarter.
Passing to a wide open teammate for the win.
Does any of it matter?
Should it matter?
Of course, Lebron James is the MVP of the season right now and clearly the best player in the NBA. His 4th quarter against the Jazz is about as perfect of a quarter you will ever see in basketball.
It was beautiful to watch.
He didn’t do anything wrong technically, just like Scott Pilgrim didn’t do anything wrong to have to fight all Ramona boyfriends, but when you want the girl, you have go for the ring so to speak.
I have told you guys many times that to give an unbiased opinion you have to eliminate the names and just see the situation.
If you take Lebron James’ name out of the 4th quarter against the Jazz, he would be lauded for the brilliant pass to a wide open Udonis Haslem, but Lebron is unique.
You can’t just take the singular situation, you have to look at things with a broader scope.
The Mini-Skips are like Ramona’s ex boyfriends. They are ruthless, illogical and unreasonable. They don’t see an excellent pass they see someone not willing to take the risk to fail. It isn’t an invalid argument, it is just the only one they see.
Lebron has built himself up to an almost mythical legend that he isn’t allowed to make a choice in how he handle late game situations. Sports fans have been brainwashed to think Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have made every game winning shot they ever took, know why?
It is because they have 11 rings between them.
There is a reason no one will talk about Dwyane Wade screw ups in the 4th quarter.
I don’t feel sorry for Lebron, this is the path and responsibility he choose when he decided to Take his Talents to South Beach.
He should have known Wade could never be touched and any failure of the Heat team would fall squarely on his shoulders. He had his opportunities last year to quiet his critics and in the biggest moments during last year Finals he and Wade failed, but most people only remember James’ failures.
Maybe he underestimated the power of the Mini-Skips and social media, but what is done is done.
One thing is clear, just like it was clear to Scott Pilgrim the only way he was going to get the girl was not by defeating the lower level ex-boyfriends, but by taking out her main boyfriend.
We will see soon if Lebron can level up when it counts the most and while from a pure basketball standpoint Lebron’s pass was fine one thing has to be said.
Lebron never had intentions to shoot, look where he makes the pass.
He was in the process of being doubled, so he got the ball out of his hands. This is the Lebron I remember playing in high school. Unselfish to a fault.
People who don’t really understand basketball just assumed one day Lebron turned into a passer because of some sort of fear, but I can assure you that Lebron’s mentality as a young player was to make the proper basketball play. Basketball fans are fickle. They get upset when Kobe is gunning, but slander Lebron for being unselfish.
Is it Oochie Wally Wally or Black Girl Lost?
Have the Mini-Skips gotten into Lebron’s head? Probably, he cares how he is perceived, but the way he plays basketball has always been unselfish, pass to open man basketball.
Ironically, Lebron may have biggest ego in the NBA off the court, but on the court he has no ego.
Lebron was thinking pass at the three point line when he could have taken it into the lane, but I think it is more because in Miami he plays like he should have been asked to play with the Cavs. Kobe probably takes the shot, but I have witnessed first hand Kobe get double team and kick out to Derek Fisher.
As a fan you have to be consistent, I know that is a lot to ask, but it is fair. Once again see the situation, not the name.
With Lebron it doesn’t matter if he takes perfect pass or take pull up jumper and misses he is going to get slandered by the Mini-Skips.
This is what happens when you crown someone the next Jordan when from the beginning they should have been Magic. Even though Lebron himself acknowledges know he wishes that is how it could have been from the beginning it is too late now.
Learn from Scott Pilgrim.
It is gang initiation, you don’t get to choose to be a killer or not. It is either kill or be killed.
The Playoffs are coming, the gun will be handed to Lebron. He has been wounding the league from years, time to go in for the kill.
Pull the trigger.
