WWE has announced via their website that they have suspended superstar Randy Orton. Of course people are always skeptical when it comes to wrestling related news, but WWE has never to my knowledge used their wellness policy violations as part of an angle. Following the steroid era in other major sports and the rash of early deaths in wrestling, WWE has at least attempted to clean up its image in that respect.
STAMFORD, Conn. – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Randy Orton for 60 days effective today for his second violation of the company’s policy.
Other guys who have been suspended recently include Rey Mysterio Jr and Evan Bourne.
Orton was in the midst of a feud with Chris Jericho, but he was also recently suspended following an incident where he desecrated the Brazilian flag (You can read about that here) so Orton’s suspension is well timed from a business point of view.
