There’s trouble brewing in the land of lakes.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin is extremely disgruntled and has requested a trade from the team.
How disgruntled is Harvin you might ask? So unhappy that he gave no exact reason for wanting to be shipped out.
According to nfl.com and Ian Rapoport, Harvin hinted at several issues with the team.
Harvin stated, “I’ll just put it this way — it’s a lot of different things that have to be sorted out,” Harvin said. “Just haven’t been real happy lately. So, we’ve got a couple things to work on. I’m here in the classroom, so we’ll go from here.”
Percy Harvin has 2 years left on his initial rookie deal so its hard to determine if this is just a play for a new contract or If he is actually hinting at some form of dysfunction.
It would seem that Harvin is upset with his role and would prefer to be featured more especially with all world running back Adrian Peterson returning from a ACL tear.
when asked about his role Harvin stated, “I’m going to be honest with you guys. I’ve been watching tape, but it’s just working on things from last year,” Harvin said when asked about the offense. “I’m into it, but like I said, I’m not happy with things, so I haven’t really been in tune to (personnel) and stuff right now.
“Overall, just watching game film and breaking down quarterbacks, breaking down myself, defenses I may face that I faced last year, things like that.”
Percy Harvin hasn’t done enough in my opinion to warrant a new deal.
This season should allow him the opportunity to prove that he is as versatile and durable a player he perceives himself to be.
A Victor Cruz type season playing in the slot along with some quality return yards would help his cause.
Stay tuned.
