Former CY Young relief pitcher for the Dodgers, Eric Gagné alleges in his French language autobiography that a startling 80% of Dodgers players at the time used steroids.
In the book titled ‘Game Over: The Story of Eric Gagné’ he himself admits to using steroids over a 3 year period towards the end of his career. Gagné notes that he was quote ‘intimately aware of the clubhouse in which I lived’. While he doesn’t pull a Conseco and start rattling off names 80% is just about everyone but the bat boy and the manager, so while he didn’t get specific he really doesn’t leave much to the imagination.
Gagné had been named in the Mitchell report in 2007, and was identified as one of the many HGH users in the league. Whether or not your believe his allegations would it come off as much of a surprise? In 2012 alone we’ve seen two players suspended (one who stood to win a batting title) due to HGH use. Oh, but according to Bud Selig the steroid era is over…riggghtttt.
