It’s not only Tom Coughlin that doesn’t care for Bucs head coach Greg Schiano. In a recent Sporting News poll of 103 players from 27 teams he was voted the coach they would least like to play for. Here’s what a few players whose identity was withheld had to say about him:
“Greg Schiano. The thing he did at the end of the game early on in the year, the game where the Giants were killing the clock off and downing the ball, there was no reason for that—no reason at all. Everyone’s worried about injuries and safety and that’s what they are doing?” — NFC offensive player
“Schiano seems like he’d be hard to play for. He’s too intense and does a lot of strange things. This isn’t college anymore.” — NFC offensive player
“The coach from Tampa, from what I’ve heard, is a pretty tough guy. The thing they did at the end of the game, when they were taking a knee, I just don’t agree with him on that.” — NFC defensive player
Don’t worry…Schiano was good company. Bill Belichick and Rex Ryan, who were also top three in the Most Overrated poll, were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
I’ve always thought Schiano was a doing s bit too much when he blitz the opposing team when they’re in the victory formation. Health is always one of the biggest concerns of an NFL player, and his excuse that he plays until the end of the game is suspect at best. I’m certain that move caused him to lose a lot of respect from opposing players.
