Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel (AKA “Johnny Football”) burst onto the college football scene in a big way back in September, and he has since solidified his status as a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender by leading the 8-2 Aggies to a win over previously unbeaten Alabama last weekend. Other than Oregon’s De’anthony Thomas, Manziel is the most electrifying player in college football, but many still wonder whose game Manziel’s compares to. Yahoo! Sports’ Pat Forde says it’s ex-Virginia Tech QB Michael Vick’s. After looking at the video evidence below, I think Forde may be onto something:

While Manziel has plenty of speed, he probably isn’t as fast as Vick was during Vick’s time at Virginia Tech as Forde pointed out. However, given Manziel’s elusiveness and his penchant for making explosive plays, I do think it’s fair to say that Johnny Manziel is providing college football fans with a nice remix of “the Michael Vick” experience from 1999.
