Bill O’Brien did a great job this season in his handling of the situation at Penn State.
So well in fact, that many people felt it would be only a matter of time before NFL teams contacted O’Brien gauging his interest in the numerous head coaching openings. The question always was whether or not he would be willing to leave Penn State after just one season.
Reportedly, that answer is yes.
According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, O’Brien is strongly considering taking a NFL interview to at least hear teams out.
I’m honestly not sure what the chances of O’Brien actually leaving are despite these reports. Perhaps his loyalty to Penn State has waned as he realizes dreams of bowl games and championships are years away from materializing there.
And the lure of the NFL is nothing to take lightly.
