Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson had a monster 2012 season. Breaking the all-time receiving yardage mark, Johnson laid claim to officially being the best receiver in the game. But like all athletes, Johnson had his fair share of injuries to play through during the season. But according to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News, Johnson dealt with a key injury for the majority of the season that most fans knew nothing about.
Broken fingers.
Johnson was on the injury report multiple times this season, but never once were fingers the reason. According to Chris McCosky, he is still been seen around Detroit with a wrap on his hand.
Reporters asked head coach Jim Schwartz at the NFL Scouting Combine about the reported injury, but Schwartz had little to say.
“I am not going to comment on any of our players’ health,” he said. “But that’s not uncommon for a wide receiver. . . . We don’t have any injury reports this time of year. And you know how I am about injuries.”
It will be interesting to see how the league deals with this if it is true that Calvin had broken fingers.
As we’ve learned before, they want all injuries reported and are not against punishing teams if they leave things off the injury report.
