One of the glaring needs for the 49ers is a reliable wide receiver opposite of Michael Crabtree. Crabtree has established himself as the go to guy and Vernon Davis is an excellent tight end, but beyond that the 49ers didn’t have much else.
Randy Moss was a big name, but he isn’t your older brother’s Randy Moss anymore.
The Patriots have been resisting giving Welker a long term deal and unless they franchise him again he will hit the open market and the 49ers will have interest.
The San Francisco 49ers will make a good push to get free agent WR Wes Welker to visit with them once free agency begins. They are expected to let Moss and Ginn Jr test free agency and are looking for a reliable wideout to take some pressure off QB Colin Kaepernick.
The 49ers offense is creative enough to make the most of Welker’s talents and could be a good landing spot for him.
