It is the smart prudent thing to do, since Manziel will be leaving Texas A&M after next season, if he is smart. What a lot of people don’t understand about an athlete’s insurance policy is, it doesn’t kick in unless there is an injury that ends their football career.
So, for example if Manziel hurts his shoulder in the final game of next season, but would be healed in six months, he wouldn’t get a dime of the insurance even if his draft stock fell because of it.
You can never be too safe, but the fact of the matter, is if he gets hurt next season, the insurance won’t help him out much.
