Osi Umenyiora got his wish yesterday when he signed a two-year deal with the Falcons. Umenyiora lives in Atlanta and is ecstatic about the signing.
During his introductory press conference today, Umenyiora said that the Falcons are the “most talented team he’s ever seen,” according to Around The League.
“This team is the most talented team that I’ve probably seen in my life,” Umenyiora said
That’s a pretty bold statement coming from a guy who played on two pretty good Super Bowl teams with the New York Giants.
Umenyiora was asked about his decline in numbers, and he attributed his lack of numbers to the fact that the Giants were stacked, talent wise, on the defensive line.
“They had some very good football players there,” Umenyiora said. “Obviously I wasn’t able to play as much as I’d have liked. There was just no way you could put all of us on the phone at the same time.
“Statistically, that definitely played a role. You’re only going to be able to produce as much as you’re out there on the football field. I wasn’t able to be out there on the football field as much as I’ve been accustomed to.”
