Vince Young is like the guy who didn’t realize how good he had it with his girlfriend and now is begging and pleading for her to take him back.
The girlfriend is the NFL and VY is doing his best to repair a lot of the burned bridges he caused when he was playing. One of those bridges was with former Titans coach and now Rams coach Jeff Fisher.
“I definitely wanted to apologize for the things that I did, letting him know about the frustration, a lot of different things that was going on in my life at the time, and want him to know that I really did appreciate him trying to make me become one of those type of leaders on the team, a successful quarterback,” Young said of Fisher, who is now coach of the St. Louis Rams.
VY is now praying someone gives him another shot, for both financial and personal reasons.
“I pray that I’ll get an opportunity, but if not, [the pro day workout] was worth the try. I know I can be a big asset to a lot of the teams in the NFL right now. Just to let them know I’ve been staying on top of my game, just in case that opportunity do come,” he said.
I don’t think Vince Young is a bad guy and he probably has a lot more talent than a lot of the quarterbacks in the league, but being a quarterback is about more than just having talent. I think that VY knows that now, but it might be too late.
