Everyone talks about equality, but in reality, there are a lot of things in life that aren’t equal. One of those things is homosexuality.
The majority of people could care less if a woman is lesbian or bi-sexual. When most men think of threesome it is normally with two girls. In professional sports, if a woman is a lesbian it gets a little more than a shrug, but as we are seeing with male athletes that isn’t the same.
You didn’t need to be an expert on relationships to know that Griner likes the ladies, but it is refreshing to hear her talk about it so openly.
Griner was asked by SI.com about the difficulty in coming out considering her stature as a prominent athlete.
“It really wasn’t too difficult,” she said. “I wouldn’t say I was hiding or anything like that. I’ve always been open about who I am and my sexuality. So, it wasn’t hard at all. If I can show that I’m out and I’m fine and everything’s OK, then hopefully the younger generation will definitely feel the same way.”
“Don’t worry about what other people are going to say, because they’re always going to say something, but, if you’re just true to yourself, let that shine through. Don’t hide who you really are,” she said.
I totally agree with her, hopefully Kerry Rhodes was reading.
