According to a story courtesy ESPN Chicago, the Chicago Cubs have locked up emerging first baseman Anthony Rizzo, after both parties agreed to a long term deal.
The Chicago Cubs and first baseman Anthony Rizzo have agreed to a seven-year, $41 million deal.
Rizzo’s agent, Marc Pollack, confirmed the deal to ESPNChicago.com.
Rizzo’s new deal includes two club options at the back end of the contract that could make it worth as much as $73 million over nine years.
The Cubs acquired the 23-year-old from the San Diego Padres before last season for Andrew Cashner. Rizzo is enjoying his first full season in the major leagues hitting .288 with 9 home runs and 28 RBIs.
