Troubling news in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings has come out of Orlando, Florida today. Former pro MMA fighter, Ibragim Todashev, was shot and killed yesterday by an FBI agent looking while being interrogated about his connection to Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Todashev began his career as an amateur fight and had only one professional MMA fight. That fight occurred July 2012 at at the “Real Fighting Championships 27: Showtime,” where Todashev won by submission using a guillotine choke.
The Orlando Sentinel said the two had a connection through a Boston gym that trains MMA fighters and boxers. The Wai Kru gym in Boston dodged these allegations and insisted that Tsarnaev had only trained at their facility several times.
Todashev allegedly got into a confrontation with the FBI agent during a questioning session regarding the bombings in Boston on April 15th. The agent, whom is reported to only have minor injuries, shot and killed Todashev. The FBI is currently investigating the events.
Another sad day that reminds people of an even sadder one a month ago. Hopefully as these details come to light, and these criminals are arrested, families can begin to heal themselves.
