San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is trying to rekindle the magic he had at the beginning of last season, but he’ll have to do it without Alex Smith who is now in Kansas City.
Davis’ numbers dropped after Colin Kaepernick took over for Smith, catching only 6 passes in the final five regular season games.
His numbers jumped up to 11 catches for 210 yards and a touchdown during their Super Bowl run, and according to insidebayarea.com, Davis says he’s continued to build chemistry with Kaepernick.
“We bond really well. We play, we joke away from the field,” Davis said, via Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group. “That’s very important, especially when it comes to having a relationship with your quarterback. You want to be able to joke with this guy. It’s about what you do away from here. Colin and I are going to work on the field but how’s your relationship away from the field. It’s always been good. Just like me and Alex.”
With Michael Crabtree out for the bulk of the regular season, these two definitely need to be on the same page.
