Last night in a win over the division rival New York Giants, Dez Bryant only caught 4 passes for 22 yards. All indications are that he is in for a huge season and Cowboys legend Michael Irvin is even predicting a MVP season for the star WR. According to Dez though, those numbers are just fine with him if it helps the team win:
“If teams want to continue to keep doing that, we’ll continue to keep doing what we’re doing,” Bryant said, via Tim McMahon of ESPNDallas.com. “I honestly feel like it’s respect. You’re respecting me, so therefore, it’s always good to see somebody else shine. When it opens up for me, I’m going to do what I love to do, and that’s make plays.”
For a guy that has had his maturity questioned on and off the field throughout his career, this is a nice sign from Dez. It’s pretty much the opposite of what we typically see from WRs these days (see Mike Wallace) but there are fantasy owners out there everywhere who are mighty nervous about this.
