Last week was a pretty embarrassing week for MLB in terms of ratings.
First, there was the report that the average viewer of the World Series last season was in their mid-50′s. Then there was the news that a bad Monday Night Football game in the Giants vs Vikings edged out the fall classic in ratings.
Well, this week as the lead MLB writer for BSO, I’m proud to announce some actual good news for MLB when it comes to the ratings. Not only did Sunday’s game 4 edge out Sunday Night Football (16.68 million vs 12.31 million), but this year’s game 4 was up 10% from last year. If anything, it’s very promising after the last week’s disturbing stats.
While Major League Baseball isn’t out of the woods yet in terms of fixing their appeal with young viewers, yesterday’s numbers are signs that baseball is far from dead.
