Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent and for the most part there has been no talks of an extension between the two sides since the beginning of this season. Kind of uncommon, because most teams take care of their franchise quarterback so they wouldn’t be able to leave, given the importance of the position in the game. Which made me wonder, if the Bears were really sold on Cutler for their future.
Now after losing out on the NFC North to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, we hear courtesy of TheSportsbank.net that it is unlikely that Cutler will be back in Chicago under center next season.
Word is that Jay Cutler isn’t likely to return to the Chicago Bears.
A source close to Mark Block, the head of both the Mark Block agency and the Jay Cutler Foundation told The Sports Bank this morning that the Chicago Bears are likely to move in a different direction. This information was brought to my attention today before the home loss to the Green Bay Packers in the regular season finale. The defeat obviously eliminated Cutler and the Chicago Bears from playoff contention.
The Bears could still franchise tag Cutler, but it’s unlikely given the high tag number a quarterback would have.
