She’s 19, she’s Canadian and she was on the world’s stage after advancing to the Semifinals, so let the girl have fun.
Eugenie Bouchard is living out her dreams and more, after defeating Ana Ivanovic, 5-7,7-5, 6-2 in the Quarterfinals Tuesday. The 19-year-old took down the 14th seeded Ivanovic in stunning fashion, after Ivanovic toppled Serena in just the previous round.
‘Genie’ paid homage to her home country when she quoted Canadian rapper Drake after the win:
“You gotta start from the bottom and now we’re here, right?”
Bouchard, a Montreal native, is the first Canadian to advance to the Australian Open semifinals in singles, and is soaking up every moment of her new found fame, as seen in the below video.
