So much for Hakeem Nicks playing out a one-year deal so that he can prove himself to the NFL.
Nicks emphasized Sunday that he wants a long-term contract as a free agent, stating that he can be a “missing link” to a team with championship aspirations.
Nicks, who will become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday, told ESPN’s Josina Anderson that he is considering “a number of teams.”

“Ideally this is what I want,” Nicks told Anderson. “I want to go to a team where I’m the missing link. There are a number of teams that I have my eye on once I hit the market.”
According to Anderson, Nicks wouldn’t mind catching passes from Andrew Luck, Cam Newton or Philip Rivers. There was no mention of one Eli Manning.
In his quote, Hakeem Nicks mentions Andrew Luck, Philip Rivers and Cam Newton. Not the QB who constantly defended him last season. Not #NYG.

“I know if I went to a place like Indianapolis, I would be dangerous with a quarterback like Andrew Luck,” Nicks said. “I can see myself catching passes from Cam Newton or even Philip Rivers.”
Nicks, 26, had 896 receiving yards and did not catch a touchdown pass this past season, his fifth with the Giants.
