Alabama commit, Mekhi Brown attended Cam Newton foundation’s 7 on 7 tournament Thursday. But just because Brown was there representing Columbus Carver High School, doesn’t mean Newton wouldn’t use the opportunity to take a shot what school he will be repping next season.
“(Newton) was just like Alabama ain’t where I need to be. He was talking to one of my teammates who had on an Alabama visor. He was talking about how he needed to get an Auburn visor and stuff like that. It was crazy,” said Brown of the encounter.
What was Newton’s reaction to finding out Brown was committed to the Tide?
“He was like, ‘you don’t need to worry about that. Come with Auburn.'”
Seems like Newton was just engaging in some good ole trash talk, but if he plants a bug that leads the next high school star to pick Auburn, I’m sure he’d feel it’s worth it.
