Well this just really sucks.
According to ESPN, the Miami Marlins have placed their young ace on the disabled list with the dreaded elbow strain.
Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right elbow, manager Mike Redmond announced Monday.
Fernandez will return to Miami for further evaluation as the Marlins await more results from today’s MRI in Los Angeles.
The last thing any team wants to hear is that their best starting pitcher has an elbow strain, because that usually means that Tommy John surgery is right around the corner.
Fernandez has been mowing down hitters all season, sporting a 2.44 ERA while leading the MLB in strikeouts with 70 after 8 starts.
