I kind of feel bad for this tennis reporter.
In a post-match press conference, at the French Open, for Nicolas Mahut (who’d just lost his first round match), a reporter attempted to conduct a question-and-answer with Mahut having not actually watched the match, and as a result, we have the sports world’s latest press conference viral video star.
Although highly embarrassing, the situation allowed the reporter to display his professionalism. He kept it real when Mahut asked him if he even watched the match, apologized, and tried (in vein) to save face by asking “what happened out there?” Mahut responded in his native language, asking that all questions be in French.
Man.
We can only hope the reporter learns to watch the events he’s covering. It seems like that would be a good idea, especially after something like this.
