When Toby Gerhart makes more than a top five running back in the league, it’s not hard to figure out who has the leverage in contract negotiations.
The Kansas City Star is reporting that the Chiefs and Jamaal Charles have had discussions about a new contract, despite reports that Charles is planning a hold out.
We could assume that someone from the Charles camp leaked the details of his hold out to KCTV5, in hopes of putting pressure on Chiefs brass.
The 27-year-old Charles is coming off a career year in which he racked up 1,980 yards from scrimmage, scored 19 total touchdowns and made his third Pro Bowl.
His $3.9 million salary is the same as Jaguars running back Tony Gerhart, who doesn’t come anywhere close to Charles’ overall resume.
