Michael Sam played well during the preseason, but in the end the St. Louis Rams still made the decision to release Sam. Jeff Fisher commented on Sam’s release at a press conference.
“There will be no challenge, no challenges whatsoever,” for whatever team picks up Sam, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said at a news conference.
“There’s no challenge with respect to Mike Sam,” Fisher said. “He’s not about drawing attention to himself. He kept his head down and worked and you can’t ask anything more out of any player for that matter.”
After the game, Fisher offered an endorsement of Sam’s ability.
“I believe he can play in this league,” Fisher said.
There is still a chance the Rams could sign Sam to the practice squad, I definitely think he play during the preseason puts him up for strong consideration for that, but Jeff Fisher wouldn’t speculate if Sam would be brought back or not.
