Ex-Lions Daniel Holtzclaw has been released from jail on $500K bond on Friday. Holtzclaw has been charged with 16 felony counts that include first-degree rape, sexual battery, indecent exposure, stalking, forcible oral sodomy and burglary. His bond was originally set at $5 million but was reduced although the prosecution warned that he was danger to people.

His attorney, Scott Adams, spoke on his behalf.

“Family and friends rallied and posted his bond this (Friday) morning,” said Adams, after Holtzclaw was released and fitted with a GPS monitoring device on his ankle.

“He’s getting ready to go back to Enid,” where he is to stay with his parents, Adams said.

The conditions of Holtzclaw’s release are very strict and state that he may only go to court and his attorney’s office. He is under house arrest and was ordered to hand over all of his police gear.

Holtzclaw played for the Detroit Lions briefly and was also very good friends with Packers OL TJ Lang. Of course, Holtzclaw is innocent until proven guilty. It’s just interesting that there was such a drastic drop in his bond.
