Is the Champ here for good?
Wrestling fans should prepare themselves for a lot more Brock Lesnar.
After originally agreeing to a deal that would see the Beast appear at only four pay-per-views per year, the WWE World Heavyweight Champ and WWE have come to terms on a new agreement that could mean a lengthy title reign for the former UFC Heavyweight Champion according to Cageside Seats.
WWE and Brock Lesnar have come to terms on a deal that allows the current world heavyweight champion to appear on any Raw or pay-per-view (PPV) event the company desires. Originally the two sides had an agreement for a set number of dates (about four PPV events plus a handful of Raw shows leading up to them) with the option to book him for additional shows at a hefty bonus price.
Now, Lesnar and WWE have a deal that simply pays the champ a flat rate per appearance.
This is great news on a few fronts for the WWE Universe. First and foremost, it means that Lesnar likely isn’t dropping the title to John Cena at Night of Champions (fingers crossed). Secondly, it means the company won’t be going long periods of time without their Champion.
For the company, it guarantees their biggest draw and top heel is available whenever they deem fit. With Lesnar’s flat rate likely coming at a hefty price tag, the company will probably use the Beast Incarnate every other month rather than at every pay-per-view. This helps add prestige to the titles since they won’t be defended monthly, and is better than not seeing Brock and the belts for four months at a time.
