UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has been sidelined by injuries since his July victory over Lyoto Machida but the long awaited matchup against Vitor “No More TRT” Belfort is back on the radar.
MMAjunkie.com has the scoop on the UFC talks:
A middleweight title fight between champ Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort is likely headed to Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Feb. 28, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation today told MMAjunkie.
The UFC tried to host a major PPV at the Staples Center in August but it was canceled due to a late injury to Jose Aldo. This fight would allow the UFC to bring one of it’s largest stars to the LA market and have a large Latin fan base behind the challenger at the same time.
