Louisville senior guard Chris Jones didn’t have the most memorable game against in-state rival Kentucky on Saturday. He went just 3-15 but was most remembered for a ridiculous flop in the second half. Needless to say, Rick Pitino was not pleased with Jones and made sure he was punished for the horrible acting job.
Monday night, Jones played only nine minutes against Long Beach State, and Pitino let the media know that the reason why is because of the Saturday flop.
“I was very upset at that,” Pitino said when asked about the flop, per Adam Himmelsbach of The Courier-Journal. “We don’t do that type of thing, and then to fake with the jaw like you got hit, you can’t fake like you got hit. You can’t fake it. … That’s something Louisville guys don’t do.”
To his credit, Jones admitted the mistake, and after the Monday benching, I would venture to say he’s learned a valuable lesson. Here’s a video of the flop in case you missed it.
