Richard Sherman is in a precarious position this week in Arizona, and it has nothing to do with the football field. Sherman is expecting the birth of is first child, a son and when asked about whether or not he’ll miss the game if he has to, Sherman was tight-lipped.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Sherman said, via ESPN. “We’re not thinking about the possibility.”
Shermans girlfriend, Ashley Moss, is in Arizona for the Super Bowl festivities and is prepared to have the baby in a local hospital if it comes to that. The outlook of fatherhood has Sherman thinking introspectively.
“It’s someone that actually depends on you for everyday living,” Sherman said. “Everything they do is dependent on you and how you provide and how successful you are.”
Personally, I hope that Sherman doesn’t have to get put into this position because it is a lose-lose situation for him. If Sherman were to miss the game, it would hinder the Seahawks secondary for sure. There have been plenty of cases of athletes missing games because of child-birth, but never a game of this magnitude.
