Terrell Owens hasn’t played in the NFL since 2010, but he’s still confident that he could be a difference maker for some team.
While sitting down with Sports Illustrated, he was was asked if he could play right now. Owens told SI he hasn’t retired yet and is still holding out hope that an NFL franchise will call him. He also said he could still put up a 1,000 yard season.
“I’ve maintined a level of endurance, kept myself in shape in case someone needed a receiver. I know I could add some value there at the receiver position,” Owens said. “I guarantee you I could be an eleven-hundred-, twelve-hundred-yard type of receiver.”
Owens pointed to the new rules that benefit offenses and wide receivers as indication.
“Oh, absolutely, without a doubt. I’m not just saying that to sell myself,” he said. “I trained with a lot of guys prior to this season. Guys like Antonio Cromartie and members of the Jets. They’re like, ‘Why aren’t you playing? You should be playing.'”
