The Atlanta Braves center fielder Melvin Upton Jr., formally known as B.J. Upton, is expected to miss the next two months to inflammation in his left foot.
Test results reveal inflammation in Melvin Upton’s left foot. Foot will be in short leg cast for 2 weeks, then walking boot for 4-6 weeks

Using this time table, Upton isn’t expected to play for the Braves until the second week on April at the earliest. The good news for the Braves is with all their off-season moves, they have a surplus of bodies including Nick Markakis, Eric Young Jr. and Jonny Gomes to plug in for Upton.
In the two years Upton has been with with Braves, he has hasn’t lived to his hype. He is batting .198 during his 267 games and recently decided to go by the name Melvin Upton Jr. verses B.J. Upton as a sign of a fresh start. I guess the new season and his name change has started off on the wrong foot, pun intended.
