Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is not going to walk away with a poor taste in his mouth.
Manning is expected to begin working with renowned boxing trainer Mackie Shilstone this week in preparation for an 18th NFL season, reports Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune.
Shilstone — a specialist in career longevity — is famous for his work with Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins.
Duncan is reporting that Manning wants to speak with general manager John Elway before publicly announcing his intentions.
That could happen any day now.
Elway made it clear last month that the Broncos’ preference is for Manning to return despite breaking down from a quad injury late in the season.
Manning needs 2,148 yards to break Brett Favre’s NFL record for most career passing yards. If he stays healthy, that mark will fall by mid-season.
