Laila Ali seemed to cause a firestorm with her idea of fighting Rond Rousey recently.
“That’s like a question I’m not even going to answer because, for one, I’m not a UFC fighter and she’s not a boxer, and no woman can beat me,” Ali said. “Period.”
Ali clarified that even though no woman could beat her, she wasn’t planning on putting that statement to the test because she’s retired.
Let's b clear…I'm retired & not interested in fighting anyone. When asked questions, I just answer them honestly
UFC president Dana White said that he will make the fight happen if Ali changes her mind.
“[Rousey is] actually the best fighter in the world,” White said. “Laila Ali would be in big trouble against Ronda Rousey. Laila if you’re serious, call me. If she wants it, she’ll get it.”
When pressed for how he saw a potential fight between the two woman playing out, White made reference to Rousey’s most recent victory – a 14-second TKO of Cat Zingano.
“No disrespect to Laila, but she would be in the 14-second range,” White said before adding that he was serious about the fight if Ali was serious.
