With the intention of using quarterback Jordan Travis as a long-term player, the New York Jets selected him in the fifth round of the NFL Draft from Florida State.
The Jets have their starting quarterback secured with the return of Aaron Rodgers from an Achilles tear that kept him out of the game the whole previous season. As a backup to Aaron Rodgers, the Jets also have Tyrod Taylor under contract.
After training camp and the preseason, Travis might be the third-string quarterback for the Jets, but he has to recover from the ankle injury that ended his Seminoles career in November. It is hoped that at training camp, he would be prepared to take photographs.
Robert Saleh Calls his QB “Ball Of Clay”
Regarding how he might progress in the NFL, head coach Robert Saleh revealed that the team views him as a “ball of clay.”

Saleh said,
“I feel like he’s kind of a ball of clay,” “He’s a tremendously talented young man and extremely gifted, especially athletically. He’s got a lot of work to do, he hasn’t even scratched the surface. He’s winning games doing things that were just pure athleticism, and if we can tie the football part to it, I think we’ve got ourselves a damn good player.”
After suffering a fracture and dislocation of his left ankle, Travis showed flashes of becoming a dual threat at Florida State. The Jets banked on his being able to regain that potential by trading two sixth-round picks for the right to select him at No. 171 overall. Travis said,
“I’m just trying to get ready as fast as possible,”

During his final two seasons with the Seminoles, the 24-year-old went 21-3, tossing 44 touchdown passes, seven interceptions, and rushing for 14 scores. He played six years of collegiate football. In 2022, he made the second team of the ACC, and in 2023, he won the ACC Player of the Year award.
